Saw some Thangka Art Today

Today I checked out some traditional Tibetan Buddhist Thangka art today, and boy, is it magnificent! Unfortunately I couldn't get up close & personal with the pieces, they were hung behind the counter of the local bank.
This is the pic from the local paper, and the article telling you all about it, too. Just click on the article to enlarge enough to read.
This is the first time I have ever come across this type of artwork being done as applique, they seem to be far mor common as paintings on cloth.

This is so interesting. I have some good friends who are Tibetan refugees, living here in the US. We've talked about going to Dhamrsala to visit there, and meet some of their family.

Oddly, I've wanted for a long time, too, to visit Maleney/Maleny (I've seen it spelled both ways) as I believe we have family connections to the place. Seeing the work of this fellow there would be a real bonus.

Bernardine, if you're in Queensland, do you know much about Maleny, it's history etc? It looks like such an appealing place.

Anyway, thanks for the post.
